I’ve always believed that one of the biggest challenges in life is that we can run out of time before we run out of ideas, goals, and opportunities we want to pursue.
My job is to help people do something about that. My approach starts with asking a lot of questions. I want to understand not only someone’s finances, but also their personal and professional life—what they’ve built, what’s important to them, what they’re working toward, and what opportunities they may not have considered yet. From there, I look for ways I can be a resource and help turn those conversations into a thoughtful financial game plan. The idea of coaching has been part of my life longer than financial planning. I was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, attended the University of Oregon, and worked with the Oregon football program while I was in school. People would often ask if I planned to go into coaching. I loved my time with the team, but my interests in finance and economics ultimately led me in a different direction. After graduating, I had the opportunity to begin my career with New York Life and Eagle Strategies. It didn’t take long for me to realize that the two paths weren't as different as I had thought. Good financial planning has a lot in common with good coaching. You start by understanding where someone is today and where they want to go. You develop a game plan, prepare for the things you can anticipate, adjust when life inevitably changes, and have someone alongside you to help keep the bigger picture in focus. Today, I work with individuals, families, and business owners to help them make thoughtful decisions about their financial lives. Whether that means preparing for retirement, managing and growing wealth, protecting what they've built, or simply figuring out what's possible, my goal is to develop long-term relationships where I can continue to be a resource as life, goals, and opportunities evolve. And after growing up in Eugene, attending the University of Oregon, and building my career here, I still haven't found a very good excuse to leave.
