I am the Chief Investment Officer of Capital Squared Financial (CSF), where I help clients keep more of what they earn.

I specialize in tax-efficient retirement and investment planning, focusing on after-tax outcomes rather than headline returns. I am a Tax Planning Certified Professional® (TPCP®) and hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Clients typically come to me for retirement income planning, reducing effective tax rates through tax-advantaged strategies and structures, and building portfolios designed to preserve and grow assets across market cycles. Having lived in Asia as an American expat for eight years, I also work with expat clients navigating cross-border financial questions. That client work is grounded in over 25 years of institutional investment experience. Before joining CSF, I founded and managed RockDen Advisors, a registered investment adviser in Alexandria, Virginia. I started my career analyzing companies during the Asian Financial Crisis of the late 1990s, later navigated a hedge fund portfolio through the Global Financial Crisis of 2007-2009, worked for UBS in Asia advising hedge funds and mutual funds, and spent a decade at institutional investment firms in Connecticut after beginning on Wall Street as an equity analyst with Societe Generale. I live in the Washington, DC metro area and work with clients throughout the US.
