Irizarry Lozada is a distinguished professional with extensive expertise in accounting, insurance, and risk management. A 1978 graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 1979, he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and attended the Property and Casualty schools of Underwriters Adjusting Company in Glens Falls, New York. From 1978 to 1984, Mr. Irizarry Lozada held various roles at the Puerto Rican American Insurance Company, including Claims Auditor and Assistant Controller. Between 1984 and 1991, he worked as a sole practitioner CPA, serving clients such as insurance companies, insurance agencies, medical claims servicing companies, premium finance companies, auto dealerships, and retail stores. In 1991, he joined United Surety & Indemnity Company as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, a position he held until 2014. Under his leadership, the company became the largest surety writer in Puerto Rico. Mr. Irizarry Lozada has achieved numerous professional designations throughout his career. In 1991, he earned the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters. In 2021, he further expanded his expertise by earning the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from The American College of Financial Services. Additionally, he has completed certifications from the Insurance Institute of America, including: • Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) • Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) • Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF) • Associate in Regulation and Compliance (ARC) In 2009, he obtained a Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance (MS-RMI) from Florida State University. He is also a licensed life and disability insurance agent, as well as a property and casualty insurance agent. Beyond his professional roles, Mr. Irizarry Lozada has contributed significantly to the industry through advisory and committee work. He has served on the Consultative Committee in Insurance to the President of the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, as well as the Advisory Committee for Licensing Examinations at the Office of the Insurance Commissioner of Puerto Rico. From 2006 to 2008, he was a member of the Insurance Code Revision Committee.
