Retirement planning is about managing risk, not just managing money. The foundational piece of retirement planning is starting with your income need and work your way up from there. Not all your money should look the same in retirement. Different dollars should accomplish different goals so that no matter what the external factors are, you are still able to live your life to the fullest. When you manage risk, you are able to do more with less and not worry about the external factors that are out of your control. We are an independent firm and have been in the business for 25 years.
