Rod Powell is the Agency Principal of Encore Insurance Group in Richmond, VA.

A full service brokerage firm specializing in private client services, commercial risk solutions, and employee benefits. www.encoreinsured.com Rod is also a published author, with three notable books to his name: "You Should Get A License," "Black Pioneers of the American Insurance Industry," and the recent follow-up, "Black Innovators of the American Insurance Industry." as well as hosting the popular "You Should Get A License" Podcast, which highlights other professionals and explores career paths within the industry. Powell has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Management and additional certifications in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship. He holds the designation of Registered Employee Benefits Consultant through the National Association of Health Underwriters, Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist from The Institute, and Chartered Life Underwriter from The American College. Committed to education, Rod serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Risk Management and Insurance School at Virginia Commonwealth University. He further contributes to the insurance community as member of the National African American Insurance Association’s national Board of Directors and as a Board Member of the Virginia Association of Independent Agents.
