As an individual investor, you face many challenges when it comes to investing today.
I remember my own personal experiences the first time I began investing, which was right in the midst of the 08-09 financial crisis. The uncertainty and daily volatility made me sick. But I was doing all this by myself – I had no idea that professionals existed to help me, much less that they would be eager to work with a regular person. In hindsight, I should have sought out professional advice. Years later, I am thankful to have the opportunity to help people succeed in achieving their own financial goals. By the way, those experiences gave me valuable insight that significantly informed the advice I gave my clients into navigating the market's ups and downs over the past several years. I grew up around San Angelo and went to Angelo State University, where I worked for 10 years after graduating. Helping those students and families to get the education that would improve their lives remains one of my greatest joys. But my heart was always on the business and finance side of the institution, and I never lost my passion for investing. So, in 2018, I made the jump to personal finance and chose Edward Jones because of what I believe to be a quality lineup of investment choices for my clients and a personalized approach that allows me to customize the strategies I recommend to clients based upon their individual situation. Because clients put so much trust in me, it's hard for us to not become close over time. It's natural, because you share many of your hopes and dreams with me. So, it's only fair that I share a little in return: I'm a former athlete, so I take my fitness seriously! I am a passionate gardener – I used to sell at the farmer's market and hope to do so again in the future. If you get me going about that stuff, you may just never get off the phone! On a more serious note, my wife and I have also volunteered as foster parents, which has been perhaps the most rewarding and challenging experience of our lives. And finally, each year I sponsor a team for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. This is a terrible disease that I'd like to do my part in helping to end. It's affected people I know and care about, and affects many of my clients as well.
